Cloud built on solid ground

A landing zone is the foundation everything else sits on — identity, networking, security and cost controls done once, properly. We design, build and migrate onto Azure foundations that pass audits and don't surprise you at invoice time.

01 — Scope

What's included.

Strategy through to build and run, from one senior team.

[ 01 ] Foundations

Azure landing zones

Enterprise-scale landing zones aligned to Microsoft's Cloud Adoption Framework — identity, networking, policy and guardrails as code.

[ 02 ] Move

Cloud migration

From on-prem, other clouds or a messy early Azure setup. Planned in stages, rehearsed, and moved without breaking a Friday.

[ 03 ] Optimise

FinOps & cost control

Most bills carry 20–40% waste. We find it, cut it, and set budgets and alerts so it doesn't creep back.

[ 04 ] Protect

Security & compliance

Hardened configurations, access reviews and audit-ready evidence for ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials Plus and SOC 2.

02 — Approach

Foundations before furniture.

We build landing zones aligned to Microsoft's Cloud Adoption Framework, and we build them as code — Bicep or Terraform, in your repository, deployed through a pipeline. Management groups, identity, hub networking, policy guardrails and cost controls all live in version control, which means the environment can be rebuilt, audited or extended without archaeology. If a consultant ever tells you they configured your cloud 'in the portal', ask them what happens when it needs to be done again.

Migrations follow a rhythm that removes the drama: assess and group workloads by risk, rehearse the awkward ones in an isolated environment, then cut over in planned waves — with a tested rollback path for every wave. Application owners know their date weeks in advance, and nothing moves on a Friday. Most estates migrate with minutes of downtime per workload, not weekends.

Once you're in, FinOps becomes a standing habit rather than a yearly panic: monthly cost reviews against a baseline we set on day one, budgets and anomaly alerts wired into Teams, and reserved-instance or savings-plan decisions made with actual utilisation data. The guardrails stop the waste creeping back after we've cut it.

03 — Deliverables

What you'll walk away with.

Concrete artefacts, not just advice — everything documented and yours to keep.

  • Landing zone as code — Bicep/Terraform repo with deployment pipeline, in your source control
  • Architecture diagrams and design decisions document, in plain English
  • Migration runbooks per wave, with tested rollback plans
  • Cost baseline and savings report — what you spent, what you'll save, where
  • Policy and guardrail set: tagging, allowed regions, budget alerts, security defaults
  • Audit-ready evidence pack for ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials Plus or SOC 2
04 — Engagements

Ways to work with us.

Start small and scale when it's earning its keep — every engagement is fixed-scope with a named senior engineer.

/01Landing Zone Sprint

Three to four weeks. Design workshop, landing zone deployed as code, guardrails live, documentation handed over. Fixed price.

/02Migration Project

Scoped by estate size. Assessment, wave plan, rehearsals and cutovers — with your team involved at every step so knowledge stays in-house.

/03Managed Cloud

Monthly. Monitoring, patching, backup verification, incident response and the standing FinOps review, from the engineers who built it.

05 — Fit

You're in the right place if.

  • Your Azure estate grew subscription-by-subscription and nobody's quite sure what's in there.
  • You're moving off ageing on-prem kit and want to land somewhere sane.
  • The monthly bill keeps climbing and nobody can explain why.
  • An audit, insurer or enterprise customer is asking hard questions about your setup.
06 — Case study

Off ageing tin, onto solid ground.

An anonymised engagement — details available on a call.

Situation

A distribution business running 40+ VMs on end-of-life on-prem hosts, with a renewal quote that made the FD wince.

Challenge

No cloud foundation existed — an early Azure trial had grown into an untagged, unbudgeted sprawl nobody trusted for production.

Solution

An enterprise-scale landing zone deployed as code (identity, hub networking, policy guardrails), then a three-wave migration with rehearsals and tested rollback for every workload.

Outcome

All workloads moved with minutes of downtime each. The monthly bill came in under the old hosting contract, with budgets and alerts stopping the creep.

07 — FAQ

Questions we're asked a lot.

Do we have to migrate everything at once?

No — the opposite. Workloads move in planned waves grouped by risk, with the awkward ones rehearsed in an isolated environment first. Every wave has a tested rollback plan, and nothing moves on a Friday.

Are you Azure only?

Azure is our home ground and where we build landing zones, but we regularly migrate estates from AWS, Google Cloud and VMware — and we'll tell you honestly if part of your estate is better left where it is.

How much downtime should we expect?

For most workloads, minutes rather than hours — cutovers are rehearsed, scheduled out of hours, and rolled back if anything looks wrong. Zero-downtime patterns are available where the business case justifies them.

Can our own team run it afterwards?

Yes, and we design for that. The landing zone is code in your repository, the documentation is written in plain English, and we'll train your team as part of handover. Staying with us is a choice, not a trap.

What does a landing zone actually cost?

The build is a fixed-price sprint — you'll know the number before we start. Monthly Azure run costs depend on your workloads, so the audit includes a forecast, and FinOps guardrails keep the bill from creeping afterwards.
